At about 2275 meters above sea level, Camp Bugyal sarai is located just below the village barsu (Uttarkashi) in the Himalayan State of Uttarakhand in India. The camp comprises of 8 tents amidst plenty of apple trees and newly planted ringal bamboo and lots of other local plan. There is a stream nearby which flows throughout the year. The camp is sopread over 300 sq. meters with lovely Ook, Celtic and mixed forest in another 200 sq. mts. There is a playground, space for an amphitheater ( which needs to be improved) and enough place for parking.

Weather of Camp Bugyal Sarai Uttarkashi

Camp BugyalSarai makes an ideal destination for trekking and camping with its pleasant temprature range both during summer and winter. During the summer months of ( May - October ), the temprature ranges from 25 to 30 degree celcies during the day and 10 to 15 deg celsius during the night. During the winter(November - March ), the temprature is around 10 degree celsius 15 degree during day time and 0 to 2 degree celsius during the nights. So, Cotton clothing is preferred during the summer months and woolen clothing during the winter months.

The Camp Provides adequate facilities for its visitors to have a relaxed stay.

The Tents

Each Tent can accomodate two persons comfortably. The tents are built over a brick platform with space at the front to sit and enjoy the fresh air from the Himalayan peaks.

Kitchen

The Kitchen area is large and designed with stone, mud and wood, Fresh organic vegetables are grown in the garden outside the kitchen. LPG is used for cooking at present but plans are underway to introduce ECo-friendly, non-conventional energy such as solar ebergy in the near future.

Dining

The Dining hut is made of locally grown ringal bamboo and wood and the roof is covered by grass. It has a fireplace and a library. The windows offer an amazing view of the mighty Himalayan Peaks. The dining table is made with stone and mud.

Toilets

The toilets are made with concrete and cement. There are three toilets and three baths in the camp area.

Shopping for the camp

We buy wet and dry rations and seasonal vegetables from uttarkashi, which is 40 kms from the base camp. Uttarkashi is a District in Uttarakhand.

Food at the camp

We serve Continental, Chinese and Indian cuisine and are also introducing Garhwali cuisine.

cleanliness

We pay particular attention to personal hygiene and cleanliness. We treat drinking water with iodine solution or alternatively we boil the water. We wash vegetables and fruits with potassium permanganate. We use biodegradable soap for cleaning utensils.

Medical Facilities

There is First Aid Kit in the camp. The nearest Doctor is in Bhatari which is a 25 min drive (10 Km) from the camp.

Surroundings

The stream running along the camp area diverted and artificially made into a small cascade using stone and mud. The lovely pond is one of the favourite sports for children. There is an area for sitting under a covering converted from a parachute, Where one can read a book and relax. This is also a great place to get a fantastic view of the Himalayas.
