In Jammu and Kashmir there are plenty of paradisiacal places and Kishtwar is one among them. The Kishtwar, located on the bank of Chenab River, is ‘the Land of Saffron and Sapphire’. The rich natural resources of the destination attract tourists throughout the year. If you are travelling to Kishtwar, then plan your trip within the period of April and September. This vacation spot located 230 Km northeast to Jammu is also an adventure zone, where you can enjoy plenty of adventure activities.
Adventure activities in Kishtwar
Kishtwar is a tranquil hill station offering breathtaking views and outstanding glimpse of valleys and high-rise mountains. The place on the lap of Himalayas is an action-packed adventure zone. Enthusiastic travellers can trek through the dense forest, ridge and meadows. Kishtwar is open for paragliding, white water rafting, mountain climbing, trekking, adventure camping, off-road driving and many more adventure sports. On such an elevation you can also try kayaking, water skiing and some more water sports. Visiting the high altitude national park in Kishtwar is another spotless site that can be visited by the tourists. The wild life, especially snow leopard, birds, Himalayan bear, wild boar, Kashmiri stags are some species that are found in the park at high altitude.
How to reach
Jammu Airport and Srinagar Airport, both are not much close to Kishtwar. People can take cab service from Jammu Airport (108 Km) and Srinagar Airport (122 Km) to reach the place.
Train can be a good option, but for that the tourists have to book ticket up to Udhampur (72Km) or Ram Nagar Jk (77Km). Sufficient bus and taxi services are available from the rail stations.
The city bus stop at Kishtwar also offers good connectivity with the major cities of the northern regions. You can also make the entire trip by your own cab through the thrilling curvy hilly roads.
